Story - The Song Inside the Song

Two people in a kitchen and the kettle boiling and one says the kettle is loud and the other says the kettle is quiet and they say it at the same time and nobody corrects anybody and the kettle boils and one says the rain is heavy and the other says the rain is light and they are both looking at the same window and the window is the same window and the rain is the same rain and one says yesterday was good and the other says yesterday was bad and they mean the same yesterday and they were both there and they ate the same bread and slept in the same bed and one says the bread was stale and the other says the bread was fine and the bread is gone and the saying is all that's left and one says the clock is fast and the other says the clock is slow and the clock keeps the time the clock keeps and one says I'm staying and the other says you're leaving and they say it at the same time and the staying and the leaving are in the same sentence and the kitchen holds both and the kettle is still boiling and the rain is still falling and the clock is still ticking and neither of them moves and the kitchen is warm and the kitchen is cold and the kitchen is the room that exists because they are both in it and the kettle boils and boils and the whistle doesn't blow because the whistle would be the resolution and there is no resolution and one says I love you and the other says I know and they say it at the same time and the love and the knowing are in the same breath and the breath is the song and the song has another song inside it and neither song leaves the kitchen.
